Volkswagen Bluemotion Roulette
If a car salesman were to sell you a car, boasting that it runs at 0.38 litres of diesel per metric mile, would you be convinced? Probably not. But if he told you that the car could travel 1570km on a single tank of fuel, that’s a whole lot more easier to take in. And that is exactly what Volkswagen did to promote their new Golf Bluemotion.
But Volkswagen didn’t just do that. They threw in a real live roulette competition on the road where participants could essentially guess where on the designated route the new car would run out of fuel. The prize was the new car. The competition gave only one chance for participants to mark down a section on the designated route. This required that participants research into the route, the technology of the car and calculate where the car would die down. As such, everyone knew much more about the new Volkswagen Golf Bluemotion. Brilliant work by Volkswagen here.
