The Next Black Moment

Rebecca Black’s song, “Friday”, could have been the worst song ever. Forbes stated that the notoriety of the song is another sign of the power of social media to create overnight sensations, specifically Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr in this case.

Her second single, titled “My Moment”, doesn’t really sound all that bad. Without the horrendous lyrics and vocals from “Friday”, the song sounds pretty decent. The one point you can take away is that you can never have too much publicity, even negative publicity.

“Friday” garnered over 167 million views on Youtube, before being removed due to copyright claims from Black. “My Moment” has over 2.8 million views in just 2 days, now that’s viral. Even if her latest Youtube video has over 180 thousand dislikes, more than the likes itself, one cannot deny that all eyes are on her. Now that her songs are getting better, this could well be her moment.
