Google+ gets viral boost from demo videos
These days, video is everything. According to Mashable, as of February 2011, YouTube has 490 million unique users worldwide per month with an estimated 92 billion page views each month. In addition, we spend around 2.9 billion hours on YouTube per month — that’s over 325,000 years.
Perhaps that’s the single greatest reason why Google bought over Youtube in 2006. Google is particularly adept at using Youtube to promote it’s own products, and it’s latest gem in the bag: Google+. With its limited invites and all the hype surrounding what features the new social networking site will provide, Google did what was necessary: Be Helpful.
The demo videos help explain to potential users what Circles, Sparks, or Huddle is all about. And people are dying to know about it. Somewhat similar to videos released by Apple, the demo videos come across as light, engaging and social. +1 to Google for that.
